TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS POST CABINET MEETING STATEMENT - 24TH SEPTEMBER 2024

Governor, Her Excellency, Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam, chaired the 31st meeting of Cabinetheld on Wednesday, 24th September 2024 at the Office of the Premier and Public Policy, Leeward Highway, Providenciales.

All members of Cabinet were present.

At this meeting of Cabinet:

1. Received a presentation from the Chief Executive Officer of the NHIB.

2. Approved the Chief Justice (Responsibilities)(Amendment) Bill 2024 for onward submission to the House of Assembly.

3. Approved the authorization of payments from the Claims Against Government account in relation to two separate Judicial Review matters.

4. Approved an amendment to the proposed Development Agreement between Grace Bay Resorts and the Turks and Caicos Islands Government.

5. Approved the following Bills for onward submission to the House of Assembly:

· Prevention of Terrorism (Amendment) Bill 2024

· Anti-Gang (Amendment) Bill 2024

· Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill 2024

· Witnesses (Amendment) Bill 2024

· Integrity Commission (Amendment) Bill 2024

6. Approved the extension of appointments to the Turks and Caicos Islander Status Commission and also approved an extension of time to consider various applications currently before the Commission.

7. Approved an application which was put forward by the Palace Resort.

8. Noted an error in the publication of the National Heritage Day public holiday and the correction of the Public Holiday to Monday 14th October 2024.

9. Approved the disbursement of funds from the National Forfeiture Fund to fund additional firearms and tactical officers required for the effective implementation of Operation Might.
