TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS POST CABINET MEETING STATEMENT - 11TH SEPTEMBER 2024

Governor, Her Excellency, Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam, chaired the 29th meeting of Cabinet held on Wednesday, 11th September 2024 at the Office of the Premier and Public Policy, Leeward Highway, Providenciales.

All members of Cabinet were present with the exception of the Minister for Public Safety, Hon. Kyle Knowles; and the Attorney General, Hon. Rhondalee Braithwaite-Knowles. Ms. Khalila Astwood attended as Acting Attorney General.

At this meeting of Cabinet:

1. Received an information paper from the Telecommunication Commission.

2. Approved a moratorium on the issuance of Vehicle Dealership Licenses for a period of six (6) months commencing 15 September 2024 to enable a policy review of the vehicle import framework.

3. Approved the Dog (Control) Amendment Bill 2024 and for the same to be submitted to the House of Assembly.

4. Approved in principle the policy for the National Strategic Agriculture Development and Food Security Plan and the Agriculture Incentive Programme for the Turks and Caicos Islands.

5. Approved the compensation of the project team to aid the formation of the Mortgage Corporation.

6. Approved the extension of Mr. Miquel Swann as temporary Chairman of the Procurement Board up to 31st March 2025.

7. Approved the renewal of a lease relating to the Police Estate.

8. Approved the draft Development Agreement for Blue Conch Holdings IV Ltd. and the Turks and Caicos Islands Government.

9. Received an update regarding flight services to the island of South Caicos.
