POST CABINET MEETING STATEMENT- 23RD JANUARY 2026

Her Excellency Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam, Governor, chaired the 3rd meeting of the Cabinet on January 23rd, 2026, at the Office of the Governor, Raleigh House, Providenciales.  

All Members were present except for Her Excellency Anya Williams, Deputy Governor, with Permanent Secretary Finance Athenee Harvey-Basden attending as Acting Deputy Governor; Hon. Rhondalee Braithwaite-Knowles, Attorney General with Ms. Khalila Astwood attending as Acting Attorney General; Hon. Otis Morris, Minister of Public Safety & Utilities; and Hon. Kyle Knowles, Minister of Health and Human Services.  

At this meeting Cabinet: 

  • Approved the extension of Moratorium on Unskilled First-Time work permit applications for Haitian Nationals with the exception of Farmers and Farm Workers for a further six months.  

  • Approved the extension of Moratorium on Visa Applications for Haitian Nationals for a further six months. 

  • Approved the recruitment of an additional Inspector for the Health Regulation Authority under the Ministry of Health and Human Services. 

  • Approved the Contingency Plan for operationalizing the Family Care Medical Services Facility. 

  • Approved the request for contingency funds to be used for flooding and standing water mitigation. 

  • Approved the Draft Bill for the establishment of a Mortgage Corporation. 

  • Approved in principle the National Insurance Legislative Amendments to various regulations. 

  • Received a presentation on the updated strategy for the Howard Hamilton International Airport Redevelopment Project. 

  • Approved the establishment of the National Hydro Meteorological Service under the charge of the Turks and Caicos Islands Airports Authority. 

  • Approved the following appointments to the Turks and Caicos Gaming Control Commission Board. 

  • Mr. Ricardo Don-Hue Gardiner, Chairperson 

  • Mr. Devonte Smith, Member 

  • Considered the Amendments to be made to the 2018 Refurbishment Policy. 

  • Approved the payment of the settlement sum for a claim against Government. 

  • Noted information paper on carbon credits and discussed next steps.
