3-DAY BAHAMAS AND TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS PUBLIC FORECAST    

3-DAY PUBLIC FORECAST 6:00 AM  TODAY AND TONIGHT WEDNESDAY 11TH OCTOBER     2023

GENERAL SITUATION: A stalled frontal boundary across the Extreme Northwest Bahamas will gradually shift northwards as a warm front and this action will maintain a very warm and moist airmass across the area, which will enhance shower activity today.

SPECIAL WARNINGS: Mariners and beachgoers should continue to be alert for waterspout activity. There is the chance of possible flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas during heavy and/or prolonged rainfall events.

 Southeast Bahamas including the Turks and Caicos Islands.

WEATHER: Partly sunny, hot and humid with the chance of a few stray showers; turning mostly fair, warm and humid at night.

WINDS:  East to Southeast at 10 knots or less, falling light and variable at times.

SEAS: 1 to 3 feet nearshore building up to 5 feet offshore, along Atlantic exposures.

Northwest and Central Bahamas

WEATHER: Variably cloudy, hot and humid with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. Some showers may be heavy and thunderstorms severe at times. Partly cloudy, warm and humid at night with isolated showers.

ADVISORY: Expect gusty winds and higher seas in or near heavy showers and thunderstorms.

WINDS:  Southeast to South at 10 knots or less, falling light and variable at times.

SEAS: 1 to 3 feet nearshore building up to 5 feet offshore, along Atlantic exposures.

EXTENDED FORECAST: A deepening low pressure system, over the western Gulf of Mexico, will move across Florida and north of The Bahamas, and will support shower activity mainly over the Northern islands on Thursday.  Less shower activity is expected on Friday as the systems move further northeastwards in the Atlantic.   

FORECAST FOR THURSDAY

WEATHER:  Partly cloudy, hot and a bit breezy with isolated showers and thunderstorms in the Northwest Bahamas; Mostly sunny, hot and humid elsewhere with a few possible showers and thunderstorms.     

WINDS: South to Southwest at 15 to 20 knots in the Extreme Northwest Bahamas and 10 to 15 knots elsewhere in the Northwest Bahamas; Southeast to South at 10 to 15 knots in the Central and Southeast Bahamas including the Turks and Caicos Islands  but falling light and variable at night.

SEAS: 4 to 6 feet in the Extreme Northwest Bahamas; 2 to 4 feet elsewhere in the Northwest, Central and Southeast Bahamas including the Turks and Caicos Islands.    

FORECAST FOR FRIDAY

WEATHER: Partly sunny, hot and humid with a few residual showers mainly in the Northwest Bahamas.

WINDS: Southwest to West at 10 knots or less in the Northwest Bahamas; Variable, less than 10 knots in the Central and Southeast Bahamas including the Turks and Caicos Islands.

SEAS: 1 to 3 feet nearshore, building up to 5 feet offshore in north to northeasterly swells.

 TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK:  A tropical wave just offshore west Africa is producing a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms.  Some gradual development of this system is possible over the next several days and it has a 20% formation chance through the next 7days.
