3-DAY BAHAMAS AND TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS PUBLIC FORECAST               

3-DAY PUBLIC FORECAST 6:00 AM TODAY AND TONIGHT TUESDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER 2023

GENERAL SITUATION: Streaming tropical moisture will continue to enhance cloudiness and shower activity over portions of the Northwest Bahamas… Meanwhile, building high pressure generates moderate to fresh breezes across the islands.

SPECIAL WARNINGS: Mariners and beachgoers should continue to be alert for possible waterspout activity and the risk of hazardous rip currents. There is the potential for flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas during heavy and/or prolonged rainfall events.

Central and Southeast Bahamas Including the Turks and Caicos Islands

WEATHER: Partly sunny, hot and a bit breezy with the chance of a few showers and possible thunderstorms; turning mainly fair and warm tonight.

ADVISORY: A small craft caution is in effect…Expect gusty winds and higher seas in or near heavy showers and thunderstorms.

WINDS:  Easterly at 15 to 20 knots.

SEAS: 4 to 6 feet over the ocean.

Northwest Bahamas

WEATHER: Variably cloudy, hot and humid with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms today; becoming partly cloudy, warm and humid at night with isolated showers. 

ADVISORY: Expect gusty winds and higher seas in or near heavy showers and thunderstorms.

WINDS:  East to Southeast at 10 to 15 knots.

SEAS: 2 to 4 feet over the ocean.

EXTENDED FORECAST (For the next two (2) days):  A continued flow of tropical moisture over the area will maintain showers and thunderstorms activity especially over the Northwest Bahamas through Thursday.  High pressure will also maintain gentle to fresh breezes.

FORECAST FOR WEDNESDAY             

WEATHER: Variably cloudy, very warm and humid with widely scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the Northwest Bahamas; a bit breezy in the Central and Southeast Bahamas including the Turks and Caicos Islands.   

WINDS: East to Southeast at 10 to 15 knots in the Northwest Bahamas; Easterly at 15 to 20 knots in the Central and Southeast Bahamas including the Turks and Caicos Islands.

SEAS: 2 to 4 feet in the Northwest Bahamas; 4 to 6 feet in the Central and Southeast Bahamas including the Turks and Caicos Islands.       

FORECAST FOR THURSDAY

WEATHER: Partly cloudy, hot and humid with isolated showers and thunderstorms.            

WINDS: East to Southeast at 10 knots or less in the Northwest Bahamas and 10 to 15 knots in the Central and Southeast Bahamas Including the Turks and Caicos Islands.

SEAS: 1 to 3 feet in the Northwest Bahamas; 2 to 4 feet in the Central and Southeast Bahamas including the Turks and Caicos Islands, but bit higher offshore in northeast to easterly swells.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK: 1.  Showers and thunderstorms associated with a tropical wave located several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands still has a 90% chance of formation during the next 7 days.
