3-DAY BAHAMAS AND TURKS AQND CAICOS ISANDS PUBLIC FORECAST

PUBLIC FORECAST FOR TODAY AND TONIGHT MONDAY  27TH NOVEMBER 2023

 GENERAL SITUATION: A ridge of high pressure across the area will weaken and gradually shift eastwards, ahead of a cold front that will drift into the Northwest Bahamas today.

SPECIAL WARNINGS: Mariners and beachgoers should be alert for possible waterspout activity.

Central and Southeast Bahamas including the Turks and Caicos Islands

WEATHER:  Partly cloudy, warm and a bit breezy with a few possible passing showers.

WINDS:  Southeast to South at 10 to 15 knots in the Central Bahamas, becoming South to Southwest at 10 knots or less tonight; East to Southeast at 10 to 15 knots in the Southeast Bahamas including the Turks and Caicos Islands.

SEAS: 2 to 4 feet over the ocean.

Northwest Bahamas

WEATHER:  Variably cloudy and warm with isolated showers and a possible thunderstorm mainly in the vicinity of the front.

ADVISORY: Expect gusty winds and higher seas in or near heavy showers and thunderstorms.

WINDS:  Southwest to West at 10 to 15 knots, falling light and variable at times today ahead of the front; winds will veer northwest to North at 15 knots behind the front tonight.

SEAS:     2 to 4 feet today ahead of the front, increasing 3 to 5 feet behind the front tonight.

EXTENDED FORECASTFOR THE NEXT TWO DAYS:  THE COLD FRONT WILL DRIFT SOUTHEASTWARDS INTO THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS ON TUESDAY AND CONTINUE INTO THE SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS INCLUDING THE TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS ON WEDNESDAY, WHERE IT IS EXPECTED TO STALL.

FORECAST FOR  TUESDAY

WEATHER: Variably cloudy and a bit windy with scattered showers and chance of a stray thunderstorm mainly in the Central Bahamas.          

WINDS: North to Northeast at 10 to 15 knots, with higher gusts in the Northwest Bahamas and Central Bahamas; East to Southeast at 10 to 15 knots in the Southeast Bahamas including the Turks and Caicos Islands, shifting Northeast to East 10 to 15 knots at night.

SEAS: 3 to 5 feet over the ocean.

FORECAST FOR  WEDNESDAY

WEATHER: Variably cloudy and a bit windy with isolated showers and a few possible thunderstorms mainly in the Central and Southeast Bahamas including the Turks and Caicos Islands.

WINDS: Northeasterly at 10 to 15 knots, with higher gusts in the Northwest and Central Bahamas; Northeast to East at 10 to 15 knots in the Southeast Bahamas including the Turks and Caicos Islands.

SEAS: 3 to 5 feet in the Northwest and Central Bahamas; 2 to 4 feet in the Southeast Bahamas including the Turks and Caicos Islands.                               

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK: Tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 7 days.
