3-DAY BAHAMAS AND TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS PUBLIC FORECAST

PUBLIC FORECAST FOR TODAY AND TONIGHT WEDNESDAY 22ND NOVEMBER 2023

GENERAL SITUATION:  A ridge of high pressure across the area will maintain stable conditions along with moderate to fresh breezes.

SPECIAL WARNINGS: Mariners and beachgoers should continue to exercise caution due to the presence of swells, rough surf and hazardous rip currents.

Central and Southeast Bahamas Including the Turks and Caicos Islands

WEATHER: Partly sunny, warm and a bit breezy with a few possible passing showers. Partly cloudy and warm tonight with a stray shower or two.

ADVISORY: SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT DUE TO SWELLS.

WINDS: East to Southeast at 10 to 15 knots, gusty at times, in the Central Bahamas; Easterly at 15 to 20 knots in the Southeast Bahamas including the Turks and Caicos Islands..

Northwest Bahamas

WEATHER: Mostly sunny and warm today with a stray shower or two.  Mainly fair and mild tonight with a few showers across the Extreme Northwest Bahamas.

ADVISORY: SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT DUE TO SWELLS.

WINDS: Southeast to South at 10 to 15 knots, becoming South to Southwest at 10 knots or less by evening.

SEAS: 5 to 8 feet in moderate to large northeast to easterly swells.

SEAS: 6 to 9 feet in moderate to large northeast to easterly swells.

EXTENDED FORECAST (FOR THE NEXT TWO (2) DAYS):  A cold front is expected to drift into the Extreme Northwest Bahamas early on Thursday and become stationary through Friday…Meanwhile, weakening high pressure will dominate weather over the remainder islands.               

FORECAST FOR THURSDAY

WEATHER: Partly cloudy with isolated showers in the Extreme Northwest Bahamas; Partly sunny and warm elsewhere, with a few stray showers.              

WINDS:  South to Southwest at 10 to 15 knots ahead of the front, shifting Northwest to North at 10 knots behind the front in the Northwest Bahamas; East to Southeast at 10 to 15 knots in the Central and Southeast Bahamas including the Turks and Caicos Islands..

SEAS:4 to 7 feet in Northeast to Easterly swells.

FORECAST FOR FRIDAY

WEATHER:  Partly cloudy with isolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the Extreme Northwest Bahamas; Partly sunny and warm elsewhere, with a few stray showers.

WINDS:  East to Southeast at 10 knots or less in the Northwest and Central Bahamas; Easterly at 10 to 15 knots in the Southeast Bahamas including the Turks and Caicos .

SEAS:4 to 7 feet in Northeast to Easterly swells.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK:  An area of low pressure, expected to develop along a frontal boundary over the central subtropical Atlantic, has a medium or 50% chance of formation during the next 7 days.
