PUBLIC ADVISORY: Tropical Storm Bret No Longer a Threat; NOW MONITORING TROPICAL STORM CINDY

Tropical Storm Bret is forecast to move across the Lesser Antilles this evening and tonight as a strong tropical storm. Bret will continue into the Caribbean Sea and dissipate around Sunday. No further advisories will be issued for Tropical Storm Bret.

Tropical Depression Four progressed into Tropical Storm Cindy at 11 PM yesterday within the central tropical Atlantic. At 5 am, Tropical Storm Cindy had maximum sustained winds of 45 miles per hour and is moving toward the west-northwest with a forward speed of 15 miles per hour. The system should continue on a generally west-northwestward for the next several days. The official NHC track forecast places the storm in the vicinity of the Turks and Caicos Islands by early next week. However, it is too early to specify the location and intensity of the system at that time.

The TCI National Weather Service and the Department of Disaster Management & Emergencies will continue to closely monitor this weather system and advise the public accordingly.
