The Quality Certification Programme is a trade enhancement initiative developed by the Department of Trade, Industry, and Fair Competition to assess, strengthen, and support local businesses in meeting quality and standards requirements. The programme will play a critical role in establishing a modern and robust Quality Infrastructure within the Turks and Caicos Islands. It aims to identify and address technical gaps that prevent micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) from meeting internationally recognized and accepted quality requirements, where applicable. The programme will also serve as the primary platform through which Turks and Caicos Islander–owned businesses and MSMEs can enhance regulatory compliance, credibility, and market access. Overall, the Quality Certification Programme will help ensure the availability of safer, more reliable products in the domestic market, while simultaneously positioning local MSMEs to take advantage of expanded export opportunities. Beyond its benefits to individual businesses, the programme strengthens the Turks and Caicos Islands’ participation and competitiveness within the global economy.
The Quality Certification Programme is divided into THREE phases.
- Phase 1- Training & Workshops(Trainings and Workshops in the sectors of Business Development & Standing Operating Procedures, Manufacturing Practices, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point & International Standards).
- Phase 2 - Product Testing (Samples would be tested within categories such as Chemical, Microbiological, Labeling, Nutritional Analysis, Compositions & Labeling to gauge whether it is globally recognized regarding quality and standards)
- Phase 3- Product Certification (Certification & International Standards & Quality Attainment)
PLEASE NOTE THAT SELECTED MSME's OF THIS PROGRAMME MUST COMPLETE PHASE 1 IN ORDER TO ACCESS PHASE 2 & PHASE 3.
