The Ministry of Health, Agriculture and Human Services welcomes the visit of Dr. Esther Mary De Gourville, Pan American Health Organization/ World Health Organization Representative for the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands and Dr. Gustavo Andres Mery, PAHO/WHO Health Systems Advisor to the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands, 24th – 28th April 2017.
The primary objectives of the five-day visit are to:
1. Hold a courtesy visit with the Governor, His Excellency, Dr. John Freeman
2. Hold a courtesy visit with the Premier, Honorable Sharlene Cartwright-Robinson
3. Hold a briefing with the new Minister of Health, Agriculture and Human Services on PAHO’s Governance and Budgetary Structure.
4. Hold discussions with senior officials of the Ministry of Health, Agriculture and Human Services on continuing collaboration between PAHO and the Ministry.
Topics of discussion include promotion of universal health coverage, enactment of health in all polices, and strengthening of primary health care including NCDs, mental health services, and services for the elderly and those with disabilities.
PAHO has a long and illustrious history of providing technical assistance and guidance to countries in Latin America and the Caribbean region and promoting cooperation between countries to advance their health goals.
