Regiment Structure

Commanding Officer (CO) - The CO is in overall command of the Turks and Caicos Islands Regiment. His/her responsibility is directly to the Governor and Government of TCI for the training, security, overseas liaison and operational capability of the Regiment. The CO is selected approximately every three years from the available Majors who are interested in being considered for the position. It generally takes about 15 years of service in order to be considered for CO. (Not Decided as YET!)

Major – This individual is also known as the Second-in-Command (2IC). The 2IC assumes command of the Regiment in the absence of the CO. He/She pays general attention to the administration of all branches of the Regiment and operational plans.

Adjutant (Adjt). The Adjt is the CO’s personal staff officer and is responsible to the CO for the discipline and administration of the Regiment. He/She also serves as the Regiment's Public Relations Officer. Additionally, this is the senior financier for the Regiment. He/She also has a variety of administrative responsibilities related to the budget, salaries, recruitment and enlistment of recruits, and the Exemption Tribunal.

Warrant Officer I – This is also known as the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM). The RSM is the senior enlisted man/woman of the TCI Regiment and is responsible to the CO for the standard of drill and discipline of the Regiment. The delivery and facilitation of all training programs as well as providing and/or identifying continuous capacity building opportunities for members of the regiment whether locally, regionally or internationally.

Warrant Officer II – This is the Chief Clerk for the TCI Regiment. He/She is responsible for the daily administration of the Regiment including information management and performance management system of the TCI Regiment.

Troop Commander – This is also known as Captain. He/She is responsible for up to twenty (20) marines on and off operations. He/She is responsible to the CO for all matters dealing with the logistical administration of the Regiment, such as: facilities, clothing and equipment, rations, weapons, instruments, vehicles, fuel, lighting, etc.
