UK TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMME SUPPORTS SENIOR TCI LEADERS

Senior Public Service Leaders in the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) Government will benefit from an intensive Leadership and Development Training Programme being delivered by the UK Civil Service College this week, 18 – 20 November 2015.  This follows on from the successful course delivered to Senior Leaders on the 26 May 2015.

In addition to the Permanent Secretary Finance, and Principal Crown Counsel, Deputy Permanent Secretaries and other Senior Officials will participate as delegates in the training event, which is largely funded by the Governor’s Office Technical Assistance Programme.  The aim of the course is to support Senior Leaders leadership and development and further strengthen their capability.

“This is an important part of Senior Leadership development for Public Service Leaders.  It will help them develop essential knowledge and skills to enhance their effectiveness in supporting the processes of government and governance, and as Leaders” said Anya Williams, Deputy Governor and Head of the TCI Public Service.

The Programme will be delivered through the highly interactive, case-in-point method pioneered at the Harvard Kennedy School to work through the Leadership issues on real life matters that delegates may encounter.

The content of the Programme is designed to help delegates to:

  • Exercise Leadership and how they can increase their personal capacity to do so
  • Identify how to effectively develop and utilise their core Leadership skills
  • Understand the different types of Leadership challenges and the types of tools and techniques that work best in resolving these.

Pat Noonan, Director of the Technical Assistance Programme, in the Governor’s Office added, “Building the capacity of Senior Leaders across the TCI Public Service is an essential element of the overall Technical Assistance Programme.  This Leadership Course will complement the Senior TCI Leaders existing skills and help them take a more strategic view in relation to planning, organisational development and resource management”.
