Revenue Department announces Approaching Deadline for Dormant Accounts

The Revenue Department reminds the general public that all funds in dormant accounts held by any financial institution on the Islands are transferrable to the Turks & Caicos Islands Government (TCIG) effective 1 December 2015.

An account is deemed to be dormant if no transaction, as defined under Section 4 of the Dormant Accounts Ordinance 2014, has been effected on that account in seven (7) years.

Financial institutions, as required by law, have issued several notices of accounts held that are deemed to be dormant under the Ordinance.   Dormant account holders are therefore advised to contact their respective financial institution and effect a transaction on their dormant account on or before November 30th 2015.  This will prevent the transfer of funds in that account to TCIG.  In addition, account holders who are uncertain of the status of their accounts, are encouraged to contact their financial institution (s) for verification.

A dormant account holder can make a claim to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, at any time for funds transferred to TCIG..

Financial institutions will not be held responsible for funds already transferred to TCIG.

Please contact the Taxpayer Services Department for further information.
