NOTICE: TCIG APPLICATION FOR PRIVATE EMPLOYMENT/INTEREST

The Office of the Deputy Governor (DGO) has noted a significant increase in the amount of public officers requesting approval to engage in private employment. Consequently, the matter of public officers engaging in private employment was discussed at the Permanent Secretaries Board meeting and it was recommended that a formal application should be created for public officers seeking to engage in private employment as well as to disclose any private interest.

See attached the ‘Application for Private Employment/Interest’ to be utilized by all public officers seeking approval to engage in employment outside of the Turks and Caicos Islands Government (TCIG). This form is effective 1st April, 2016.

Moreover, it was also agreed that not only should this form be used for new applications moving forward, but public officers with existing approval to engage in private employment should also complete the application. This process will assist the various Ministries and the Human Resource Management Directorate in filling information gaps in personnel files as well as help to ensure that there are no conflicts of interest with respect to public officers with previous approval.
