The Turks and Caicos Islands National Blood Bank, on the 14th June, 2019 joined with the rest of the world in celebrating World Blood Donor Day. Every year on this day Blood Banks across the world pay homage to the millions of voluntary blood donors, and convey gratitude for their selfless act of kindness towards the life of a person in need. Blood as we know accounts for a large part of our health and cannot be made or manufactured. We are all therefore reliant on donors who are kind enough to take time out of their busy schedules to donate a unit of blood so that health professionals may use this item to save the life of a person in need of a blood transfusion.
The National Blood Bank hosted a mobile blood drive in Providenciales on Friday 14th June, 2019. The activity received an overwhelming amount of support and we are heartened by the response of persons who presented to donate a unit of blood. The National Blood Bank would like to convey a special thank you to all of the donors, and persons who expressed interest in donating on the day of the blood drive. Without their support, the activity would not have been a success and we are indeed grateful.
We are also thankful for the opportunity to have partnered with agencies across the island to improve the quality of the activity, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank Graceway Supermarkets, Flow, Kishco Trading and Provo Water Company for their generosity in assisting with the activity.
If you are interested in donating blood, please contact the National Blood Bank on 941-2800 Ext. 72106 or visit us at the Cheshire Hall Medical Center in Providenciales.
