Hon. Charles W. Misick, Minister of Finance, Trade and Investment attended and spoke at the United Nations’ IAMNESS Lioness Global Economic and Empowerment Summit in New York City on 10th June 2016 where he on behalf of the Turks and Caicos Islands accepted the Inspiration and Empowerment Award.
The Summit highlighted and brought recognition to the efforts of various individuals holding leading roles within their countries that are centered around promoting strategies and opportunities to increase business ownership as a means of transforming poverty-classed communities. The Award marks the Turks and Caicos Islands as an outstanding leader among the region in economic recovery as well as social and trade transformation.
In addition, the Turks and Caicos Islands, along with other regional countries made history; being among the founding leaders to sign the first Economic Emancipation Proclamation during the Summit.
