The Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands is projected to spend millions this year to undertake work on roadways across the country. Phase one that began in February of this year is expected to be completed by the end of May 2016.
The Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Planning, Hon. Amanda Misick said; “The Government is providing $6.17 million under its roads infrastructure push across the country. “It is important to stress the increasing use of the roads by our residents and visitors for walking and jogging for the purpose of physical exercise, and it was mandatory that we consider accommodating these pedestrians through the creation of more sidewalks across the board.”
The Minister added, “We are thankful for your patience and are working on behalf of the Government of The Turks and Caicos to limit any delays, inconveniences, and possible disruptions that may come.”
Road works for the Front Street Road in Grand Turk will come directly from the Sea Wall Redevelopment Project. The Clement Howell High School access road is budgeted for and is awaiting the tender process.
