DEPARTMENT OF REHABILITATION AND COMMUNITY SUPERVISION SUCCESSFULLY OBSERVES INTERNATIONAL PROBATION AND PAROLE WEEK 2026

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – Wednesday, 15 July 2026: The Department of Rehabilitation and Community Supervision (DRCS) has successfully concluded its observance of International Probation and Parole Week, held from 6–12 July 2026 under the global theme "Connected for Change: Building Bridges in Supervision.”

The week was dedicated to raising public awareness of the vital role probation and parole officers play in protecting communities, supporting rehabilitation, reducing reoffending, and helping individuals successfully reintegrate into society.

Throughout the observance, the Department undertook a series of activities focused on community engagement and staff recognition. Public awareness initiatives highlighted the work of probation and parole officers and the important contribution of community supervision to the criminal justice system. Officers also participated in outreach efforts designed to educate the public about the Department's services and the positive impact of rehabilitation. The week concluded with a staff appreciation initiative recognizing the commitment and professionalism of the Department's officers and a church service, providing an opportunity for reflection, thanksgiving, and renewed commitment to service.

Minister of Public Safety, Gender and Religious Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon. Shaun D. Malcolm, commended the Department, stating, "Our probation and parole officers make an invaluable contribution to public safety by balancing accountability with rehabilitation. Their dedication, professionalism, and compassion help create safer communities while giving individuals the opportunity to make meaningful and lasting changes in their lives. I thank each probation officer for their unwavering commitment to serving the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The Department extends its sincere appreciation to its officers, stakeholders, and community partners for their ongoing commitment to building safer, stronger communities through effective community supervision.
