CESSATION OF ALL FIRST TIME WORK PERMITS

The Ministry of Immigration, Citizenship, Labour and Employment Services advises the general public that the Labour and Employment Service Department will cease to accept ALL First Time Work Permit Applications for persons to be employed within the following categories, effective immediately until further notice:

  1. All areas of Construction
  2. Real Estate Agents
  3. Unskilled workers
  4. All categories of Water Sports
  5. All persons seeking to engage in the rental of water sports equipment

We hasten to add, that all First Time Work Permit Applications received at the Labour Department prior to the cessation will be reviewed for a final decision by both the Board and the Commissioner of Labour.

The Ministry wishes to inform the public that this measure, although temporary, is vital at this time, as it is necessary to take steps to ensure persons engaging in employment in the areas mentioned, are employed legally and not exploiting the current situation.

Once the situation improves globally and within the Turks and Caicos Islands the matter will be revisited.
