EDWIN MYERS APPOINTED AS FINANCE OFFICER

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, 26th October 2023 -The Turks and Caicos Islands Government is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Edwin Myers Jr., a returning student, as a Finance Officer within the Financial Services and Supplies Management Department of the Ministry of Finance, Investment, and Trade. 

Mr. Myers’ journey has been marked by impressive educational accomplishments and a strong commitment to public service. He recently completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Birmingham, adding another significant milestone to his already distinguished academic record. Mr. Myers also holds an Associate's Degree in Business Studies from the Turks and Caicos Islands Community College, which he obtained in 2019.

In recognition of his academic excellence and unwavering devotion to his community and public service, Mr. Myers was named a National Scholar of the Turks and Caicos Islands in 2017. His academic achievements include obtaining 11 CXC passes within a year and graduating from the HJ Robinson High School with a Diploma with Distinction.

Beyond his academic pursuits, Mr. Myers’ contributions to his community are equally commendable. In 2017, he served as the President of the HJRHS Interact Club, demonstrating leadership qualities and a deep commitment to making a positive impact.

His dedication continued as he assumed the role of Student Guild President at the Turks and Caicos Islands Community College in 2019, leading and representing his fellow students with distinction.

Mr. Myers’ journey within the public service commenced when he joined the Department of Statistics as an intern in June 2019. His persistence and aptitude were quickly recognized, leading to his appointment as a Statistical Technician (Temporary) in September 2019. This experience allowed him to gain valuable insights into the field. Mr. Myers continued to broaden his horizons through internships at the Office of the Chief Internal Auditor under the TCI National Internship Program in 2022 and in the Finance Department of Graceway Trading Ltd. in 2023.

Today, he occupies the role of Finance Officer, currently assigned in the payroll department, a testament to his unwavering determination, resolute commitment, and readiness to contribute his knowledge and skills to his country. His personal motto, "Anything's possible, you have to dream like you've never seen obstacles" by Jermaine Cole, reflects his determination to overcome challenges and achieve success.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Myers said:

“I would like to thank God for seeing me through this far and pray he continues to guide me. I’m also grateful to my friends and family for continuously supporting me through my education and always being there when needed.

I am happy and excited to be appointed as Finance Officer in the Financial Services and Supplies Management Department within the Ministry of Finance, Investment, and Trade and I am very much thankful for this opportunity. I hope to bring knowledge from my past experiences and from my recently completed degree and I look forward to fulfilling this role and continuing to grow both personally and within my career.”
