MINISTRY OF HEALTH’S COVID-19 UPDATE #152

The Ministry of Health wishes to advise the public that as at 12am on 9th August 2020:

since the previous update, significant changes have continued to take place in The Turks & Caicos Islands’ COVID-19 position. nineteen (19) new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been recorded; eighteen (18) cases are contacts of known confirmed cases, while one (1) case has no clear epidemiological link.

the number of active confirmed cases in the TCI now stands at one hundred and seventy-four (174). two (2) confirmed cases continue to be under hospital care. The Public Health Team continues to implement aggressive contact tracing and control measures in relation to all active cases.

Today’s new cases bring the number of Confirmed positive cases identified in the TCI to two hundred and sixteen (216) cases. No new recovery has been recorded, and the total number of recoveries continue to stand at thirty-nine (39). No new COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded and total COVID-19 related deaths remain at two (2).

fifty-six (56) new test results have been recorded over the past 24hrs. These results confirmed nineteen (19) individuals positive and thirty-seven (37) individuals negative for covid-19. To date, the TCI has recorded a total of one thousand four hundred and seventy (1470) test results, with one thousand two hundred and fifty-four (1254) confirmed to be negative and two hundred and sixteen (216) positive confirmations. All persons confirmed not to have COVID-19, and any contacts, (if quarantined, will be removed from quarantine/observation status) are asked to continue following proper guidelines from the Ministry of Health.

The number of persons in quarantine/observation has increased to 391. This includes: Confirmed cases (174), primary contacts of confirmed cases (169), secondary contacts of confirmed cases (48). Nine (9) of these persons are currently being quarantined at a non-medical facility. Persons under observation/quarantine, that are not confirmed or suspected cases, are either not displaying symptoms or have not met the case definition.

The increase in quarantine/observation numbers is as a result of the new confirmed cases and their contacts being added to quarantine/observation status. To date, a total of 1,213 individuals have been released from quarantine/observation status. 

Local testing is being conducted for persons in a range of categories, according to the national testing strategy. This includes frontline workers and those who may need to travel for treatment abroad. These persons would not be reflected in quarantine numbers.

The public is strongly urged to follow all health advice and guidelines from the Ministry, especially as we progress with the phased reopening.

  • A suspected person is someone who meets the case definition as outlined by WHO and CARPHA - and is experiencing symptoms.
  • A person in quarantine is an individual on island who may have come in proximity to suspected or confirmed cases - and have not exhibited symptoms.

The Turks & Caicos Islands has continued to record significant change in its COVID-19 position since the previous update. Twenty-seven (27) new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been recorded over the past 24hrs; twenty-one (21) cases are contacts of known confirmed cases, while six (6) are cases with no clear epidemiological link. the number of active confirmed cases in the TCI now stands at one hundred and fifty-five (155). two (2) confirmed cases are under hospital care. The Public Health Team continues to implement aggressive contact tracing and control measures in relation to all active cases.

Today’s new cases bring the number of Confirmed positive cases identified in the TCI to one hundred and ninety-seven (197) cases. No new recovery has been recorded, which leaves the total number of recoveries at thirty-nine (39). No new COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded and total COVID-19 related deaths remain at two (2).

Seventy-two (72) new test results have been recorded since the previous update. confirming twenty-seven (27) individuals positive and forty-five (45) individuals negative for covid-19. To date, the TCI has recorded a total of one thousand four hundred and fourteen (1414) test results, with one thousand two hundred and seventeen (1217) confirmed to be negative and one hundred and ninety-seven (197) positive confirmations. All persons confirmed not to have COVID-19, and any contacts, (if quarantined, will be removed from quarantine/observation status) are asked to continue following proper guidelines from the Ministry of Health.

The Turks & Caicos Islands has continued to record significant change in its COVID-19 position over the past 24hrs. Twenty-nine (29) new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been identified; eighteen (18) cases are contacts of known confirmed cases and eleven (11) are cases with no clear epidemiological link. the number of active confirmed cases in the TCI now stands at one hundred and twenty-eight (128). two (2) confirmed case are now under hospital care. The Public Health Team continues to implement aggressive contact tracing and control measures in relation to all active cases.

Today’s new cases bring the number of Confirmed positive cases identified in the TCI to one hundred and seventy (170) cases. No new recovery has been recorded, which leaves the total number of recoveries at thirty-nine (39). No new COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded and total COVID-19 related deaths remain at two (2).

Seventy-one (71) new test results have been recorded since the previous update. twenty-nine (29) individuals have been identified as positive forty-two individuals were negative for covid-19. To date, the TCI has recorded a total of one thousand three hundred and forty-two (1342) test results, with one thousand one hundred and seventy-two (1172) confirmed to be negative and one hundred and seventy (170) positive confirmations. All persons confirmed not to have COVID-19, and any contacts, (if quarantined, will be removed from quarantine/observation status) are asked to continue following proper guidelines from the Ministry of Health.

The number of persons in quarantine/observation has increased to 358. This includes: Confirmed cases (128), primary contacts of confirmed cases (182), secondary contacts of confirmed cases (48). Nine (9) of these persons are currently being quarantined at a non-medical facility. Persons under observation/quarantine, that are not confirmed or suspected cases, are either not displaying symptoms or have not met the case definition.

The change in quarantine/observation numbers is as a result of the new confirmed cases and their contacts being added to quarantine/observation status; and the quarantine/observation period having expired for several individuals. To date, a total of 1,213 individuals have been released from quarantine/observation status.

The Turks & Caicos Islands has continued to record significant change in its COVID-19 position since the previous update. Twelve (12) new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been identified; one (1) case is a contact of a known confirmed case and eleven (11) are cases with no clear epidemiological link. These cases increase the number of active confirmed cases in the TCI to ninety-nine (99). One (1) confirmed case continues to remain under hospital care. The Public Health Team continues to implement aggressive contact tracing and control measures in relation to all active cases.

Confirmed positive cases identified in the TCI to date now stand at one hundred and forty-one (141) cases. No new recovery has been recorded, which leaves the total number of recoveries at thirty-nine (39). No new COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded and total COVID-19 related deaths remain at two (2).

Nineteen (19) new test results have been recorded since the previous update. These results confirmed twelve (12) persons were positive and seven (7) persons were negative for COVID-19. To date, the TCI has recorded a total of one thousand two hundred and seventy-one (1271) test results, with one thousand one hundred and thirty (1130) confirmed to be negative and one hundred and forty-one (141) positive confirmations. All persons confirmed not to have COVID-19, and any contacts, (if quarantined, will be removed from quarantine/observation status) are asked to continue following proper guidelines from the Ministry of Health.

The Turks & Caicos Islands has recorded significant change in its COVID-19 position over the past 24hrs. as reported earlier today, Thirteen (13) new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been identified; two (2) of these cases are contacts of known confirmed cases and eleven (11) are cases with no clear epidemiological link. These cases increase the number of active confirmed cases in the TCI to eighty-seven (87). One (1) new recovery has been recorded, bringing the total number of recoveries to thirty-nine (39). One (1) confirmed case continues to remain under hospital care. The Public Health Team continues to implement aggressive contact tracing and control measures in relation to all active cases.

Confirmed positive cases identified in the TCI to date now stand at one hundred and twenty-nine (129) cases. No new COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded and total COVID-19 related deaths remain at two (2).

Thirty (30) new test results have been recorded since the previous update. These results confirm thirteen (13) persons were positive and seventeen (17) persons were negative for COVID-19. To date, the TCI has recorded a total of one thousand two hundred and fifty-two (1252) test results, with one thousand one hundred and twenty-three (1123) confirmed to be negative and one hundred and twenty-nine (129) positive confirmations. All persons confirmed not to have COVID-19, and any contacts, (if quarantined, will be removed from quarantine/observation status) are asked to continue following proper guidelines from the Ministry of Health.

This includes: Confirmed cases (87), primary contacts of confirmed cases (97), secondary contacts of confirmed cases (34) returning TCI residents (2) – Nine (9) of these persons are currently being quarantined at a non-medical facility. Persons under observation/quarantine, that are not confirmed or suspected cases, are either not displaying symptoms or have not met the case definition.

The change in quarantine/observation numbers is primarily as a result of contacts of the confirmed cases and their contacts being added to quarantine/observation status; and the recovery being removed. To date, a total of 1,211 individuals have been released from quarantine/observation status.
