Seaman Visa

Requirements to Obtain a Turks and Caicos Seaman Visa

  1. Application Form (Fully Completed)
  2. 2 Photos (must be Certified by a Justice of the Peace)
  3. A Current Police Record from Country of Origin (must be translated if not in English)
  4. A Valid Passport
  5. A Copy of the Valid Business License
  6. A Copy of the Agent Identification (must be Certified)
  7. Documents in relation to the Vessels (inlcuding Registration and Name of Owner)
  8. Covering Letter from Agent Applying for a Visa on behalf of the Applicants
  9. An Original Medical Certificate
  10. Administrative Fee ($100 Non-Refundable)
  11. Upon Approval an Additional Payment ($300.00)

NB: Any person submitting a visa application who does not meet the above requirements, his/her application shall not be process.

Seaman Visa

An application for a Seaman’s visa shall be made through the authority of an agent responsible for their sailing vessels. The total amount of crew per vessel and visas granted shall be to a Captain, First Mate, Engineer, Cook, and four deck hands. The validity of a visa shall be for six months multiple entries assign to the named vessel and agent.

All applications shall be accompanied with a Police record which must be from the individuals respective countries of origin where they must have resided for more than three years, and translated into English, the visa shall be issued specifically to the vessel and agent that the applicant is part in crew of, should for any reason a crew member desires to no longer be a part of that same vessel a request to do so must be made to the Director of Immigration by the agent two months prior to his/ or her request.

A seaman’s visa shall be specifically assigned to a vessel and its mode of travel shall not include any entry by air.

If for any reason a seaman’s visa is issued to a crew member with a specific vessel and that crew member seek to gain leave to land by another vessel he/she will automatically be refused entry.

The maximum of leave to land by an Immigration officer to a crew issued with a seaman’s visa shall be 14 days upon arrival and if for any reason a further extension of an additional 7 days maximum.

Requirements

To include A Police record, a valid passport, two photos, the agent necessary information pertaining to the sailing vessel including its registration and the name of the owner, all other relevant information that may be deemed necessary to assist with the seaman’s visa application.

Penalty Fees

If for any reason a crew member is found in the islands after the departure as mandated under the time as allowed in accordance with set point 5 and subsequently to the departure of that sailing vessel that the crew member is assign to, the agent and the crew member would be automatically be fined $500 an made to purchase a return ticket for that crew member. Further if for any reason a captain of any sailing vessels brings any crew members into the islands without a seaman’s visa an automatic fine of $1000 shall be levied against the captain and the agent of that sailing vessel.

Rseponsibilities of the Agents

Any agent responsible for a vessel and procurement of a seaman’s visa shall be directly accountable for its crew members, sales of cargo and goods including inward and outward bound manifests that must be presented twenty four hours (24) to an immigration officer before arrival and after departure of a vessel and to see to the departures of all crewmen on any sailing vessel under their direct authority.

Student Visa Requirements

A student visa may be issued on the following principles and requirements; any student in making an application for a Turks and Caicos visa shall firstly submit their acceptance letter from a college or a school within the islands, that student should show that they are financial secure to maintain themselves during their tenure while studying and this shall take the form of a financial letter from a recognizable banking institution in their country or globally, they must have already secured accommodation in advance and the contact details of the renter to be provided, a clean police record, medical certificate, lastly any student who is granted a student visa they shall not be able to transition to a work permit.
