  • December 10th 2013, is very significant for the TICHRC as it is the day for the first time we joined the rest of the world in observing International Human Rights Day. In its efforts to highlight the great achievements and the unity shown around the world in observance of International Human Rights Day, the TCIHRC saw it fit that the Turks and Caicos Islands be a part of the worldwide celebrations. The TCIHRC petitioned the Government and asked for a change to be made to the existing Statutory Holiday of third week in October (not specific date) that was named International Human Rights Day be abolished and that 10th December be commemorated in alliance with the rest of the world as International Human Rights Day. To commemorate this achievement and for the relocation of our existing office site, the TCIHRC for the first time, held an ‘Open House’ with funding from the Jubilee Fund and support from the Governor’s Office.
