BAHAMAS AND TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS PUBLIC FORECAST

THE PUBLIC FORECAST FOR 6:00 AM TODAY AND TONIGHT WEDNESDAY 4TH NOVEMBER 2020, ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY.

GENERAL SITUATION: A STATIONARY FRONTAL BOUNDARY CONTINUES TO LINGER ACROSS THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS AND IS EXPECTED TO DISSIPATE LATER TONIGHT WHILE TROPICAL MOISTURE STREAMS OVER THE SOUTHERN BAHAMAS.  STRONG TO GALE FORCES WINDS CONTINUES TO MAINTAIN WINDY AND HAZARDOUS MARINE CONDITIONS.

SPECIAL WARNINGS: SMALL CRAFT OPERATORS IN THE NORTHWEST AND CENTRAL BAHAMAS SHOULD REMAIN IN PORT AND BEACHGOERS REMAIN OUT OF THE WATER.  MOTORISTS AND PEDESTRIANS TRAVERSING NORTHERN AND EASTERN COASTAL ROADS SHOULD EXERCISE CARE AS SEA SPRAY AND BATTERING WAVES CAN REDUCE MOTORISTS’ VISIBILITY AND CREATE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. TAKE SPECIAL CARE WHEN CROSSING THE GLASS WINDOW BRIDGE IN ELEUTHERA AND THE FISHING HOLE ROAD IN GRAND BAHAMA.

SEAS:   8 TO 12 FEET IN THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS…5 TO 8 FEET OVER THE OCEAN IN THE SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS INCLUDING THE TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS.
