THIS IS THE PUBLIC FORECAST FOR TODAY AND TONIGHT SATURDAY 28TH, NOVEMBER 2020 ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY.

GENERAL SITUATION:  HIGH PRESSURE CONTINUE TO GENERATE MILD WEATHER CONDITIONS ACROSS THE BAHAMAS.

WEATHER: VARIABLY CLOUDY AND WARM WITH A QUICK PASSING SHOWER, BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY TO CLOUDY WITH AN ISOLATED SHOWER TONIGHT. 

WINDS: NORTHEAST TO EAST AT 10 KNOTS OR LESS FALLING LIGHT AND VARIABLE AT TIMES

SEAS: 1 TO 3 FEET, SLIGHTLY HIGHER ALONG ATLANTIC OCEAN FACING BEACHES

WEATHER: PARTLY SUNNY AND WARM WITH A QUICK PASSING SHOWER, BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY AND COOL AT NIGHT. 

WINDS:  EAST TO SOUTHEAST AT 10 KNOTS OR LESS IN THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS, EASTERLY AT 10 TO 15 KNOTS IN THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHEASTERN ISLANDS.    

SEAS:  1 TO 3 FEET IN THE NORTHWEST BUILDING 2 TO 4 FEET IN THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS INCLUDING THE TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS.      

FORECAST FOR  MONDAY

WEATHER: PARTLY SUNNY AND WARM WITH ISOLATED SHOWERS, BECOMING CLOUDY AND COOL AT NIGHT.

WINDS: SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST AT 10 TO 15 KNOTS, INCREASING 15 TO 20 KNOTS IN THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS, EAST TO SOUTHEAST AT 10 TO 15 KNOTS IN THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS INCLUDING THE TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS.

SEAS: 2 TO 4 FEET, BUILDING 4 TO 7 FEET IN THE NORTHWEST. SMALL CRAFT CAUTION COMES INTO EFFECT IN THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS AS THE WINDS AND SEAS INCREASE AND BUILD. 

TROPICAL WEATHER:

  1. A NON-TROPICAL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM LOCATED ABOUT 600 MILES SOUTHEAST OF BERMUDA HAS A LOW 30 PERCENT CHANCE OF TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.
  2. A NON-TROPICAL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM HAS FORMED OVER THE FAR EASTERN ATLANTIC. THIS SYSTEM HAS A LOW 10 PERCENT CHANCE OF TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.
