BAHAMAS AND TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS PUBLIC FORECAST

PUBLIC FORECAST FOR TODAY AND TONIGHT SATURDAY 21ST NOVEMBER 2020

GENERAL SITUATION:  THE REMNANTS OF A FRONTAL BOUNDARY IN THE SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS COUPLED WITH AN EASTWARD MOVING UPPER LEVEL TROUGH, WILL TRIGGER SHOWER ACTIVITY OVER PORTIONS OF THE ISLAND CHAIN, AS A PROMINENT RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE NORTH OF THE AREA GENERATES MODERATE TO LOCALLY STRONG BREEZES ACROSS THE AREA. MEANWHILE, HIGH SEAS WILL GRADUALLY DIMINISH OVER BAHAMIAN WATERS THROUGH TONIGHT.

SPECIAL WARNINGS: SMALL CRAFT OPERATORS SHOULD NOT VENTURE FAR FROM PORT AND BEACHGOERS SHOULD REFRAIN FROM ENTERING THE WATERS DUE TO HIGH SEAS, ROUGH SURF AND HAZARDOUS RIP CURRENTS ALONG NORTH AND EAST COAST BEACHES. BOATERS SHOULD REMAIN VIGILANT DUE TO THE THREAT OF POSSIBLE WATERSPOUT ACTIVITY.

WINDS:NORTH TO NORTHEAST AT 10 TO 15 KNOTS IN THE EXTREME NORTHWEST BAHAMAS, SHIFTING EAST TO SOUTHEAST AT 10 KNOTS OR LESS BUT FALLING LIGHT AND VARIABLE AT TIMES ACROSS THE REMAINDER OF THE ISLANDS.

SEAS: 4 TO 6 FEET OVER THE OCEAN IN LIGHT EASTERLY SWELLS.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK: A NON-TROPICAL AREA OF LOW PRESSURE COULD FORM OVER THE WESTERN ATLANTIC EARLY NEXT WEEK. THIS SYSTEM HAS A LOW, OR 10 PERCENT CHANCE OF TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION THROUGH THE NEXT 5 DAYS.
