BAHAMAS AND TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS PUBLIC FORECAST

THIS IS THE BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST FOR TODAY AND TONIGHT FRIDAY 13TH, NOVEMBER 2020 ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY AT 6 AM.                   

GENERAL SITUATION: HIGH PRESSURE CONTINUES TO WEAKEN ACROSS THE ARCHIPELAGO AS A PRE-FRONTAL TROUGH LAY ACROSS THE EXTREME NORTHWESTERN ISLANDS, WHILE A STRONG TROPICAL WAVE MOVE WESTWARD NEAR THE SOUTHEASTERN ISLANDS.

SPECIAL WARNINGS: BEACH GOERS SHOULD BE ALERT FOR THE RISK OF RIP CURRENTS ALONG NORTH AND EASTERLY BEACHES.

WEATHER: PARTLY CLOUDY, WARM AND BREEZY WITH WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS, CLOUDS AND SHOWER ACTIVITY INCREASING OVER NIGHT IN THE SOUTHEASTERN ISLANDS.

WEATHER: PARTLY CLOUDY TO CLOUDY WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS MAINLY IN THE EXTREME NORTHWEST AND SOUTHEASTERN ISLANDS, PARTLY SUNNY AND WARM WITH ISOLATED SHOWERS ELSEWHERE.    

WINDS:  NORTHEAST TO EAST AT 10 TO 15 KNOTS IN THE EXTREME NORTHWEST AND EAST TO SOUTHEASTERLY AT 10 TO 15 KNOTS IN THE REMAINING NORTHWESTERN ISLANDS, EASTERLY AT 15 TO 20 KNOTS IN THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS INCLUDING THE TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS

SEAS:  2 TO 4 FEET IN THE NORTHWEST AND 4 TO 6 FEET IN THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS INCLUDING THE TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS.

WEATHER: PARTLY SUNNY AND HOT WITH ISOLATED SHOWERS OR A THUNDERSTORM OVER ALL AREAS

WINDS: EAST TO SOUTHEAST AT 10 TO 15 KNOTS IN THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS AND EASTERLY AT 15 TO 20 KNOTS IN THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS INCLUDING THE TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS. 

SEAS: 2 TO 4 FEET IN THE NORTHWEST AND 4 TO 6 FEET IN THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS INCLUDING THE TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS.

TROPICAL WEATHER:  A TROPICAL WAVE IS LOCATED OVER THE CENTRAL CARIBBEAN SEA. THIS SYSTEM HAS BECOME BETTER ORGANIZED AND A TROPICAL DEPRESSION WILL LIKELY FORM WITHIN THE NEXT DAY OR TWO AS IT MOVES SLOWLY WESTWARD.
