ALERT #13 ON TROPICAL DEPRESSION ETA ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY, SATURDAY 7TH NOVEMBER, 2020, AT 8 AM EST. 

…ETA CONTINUES MOVING TOWARD THE CAYMAN ISLANDS … 

A TROPICAL STORM WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR THE ISLANDS OF THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS.  THIS INCLUDES THE ISLANDS OF GRAND BAHAMA, ABACO, BIMINI, BERRY ISLANDS, ANDROS, NEW PROVIDENCE AND ELEUTHERA 

A TROPICAL STORM WARNING MEANS THAT TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS COULD BE EXPERIENCE IN SOME OR ALL OF THE MENTIONED ISLANDS WITHIN 36 HOURS.

A TROPICAL STORM ALERT REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE ISLANDS OF THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS.  THIS INCLUDES THE ISLANDS OF, EXUMA, CAT ISLAND, LONG ISLAND, SAN SALVADOR AND RUM CAY. 

A TROPICAL STORM ALERT MEANS THAT TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS COULD BE EXPERIENCED IN THE MENTIONED ISLANDS WITHIN 60 HOURS.

AT 7 AM EST, THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION ETA WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 18.6 DEGREES NORTH AND LONGITUDE 84.2 DEGREES WEST, OR ABOUT 190 MILES WEST-SOUTHWEST OF GRAND CAYMAN, OR ABOUT 575 MILES SOUTHWEST OF KEMPS BAY ANDROS, OR ABOUT 615 MILES SOUTHWEST OF NEW PROVIDENCE.

THE DEPRESSION IS MOVING TOWARD THE EAST-NORTHEAST NEAR 13 MPH.  AN EAST-NORTHEAST TO NORTHEAST MOTION WITH A FASTER FORWARD SPEED IS EXPECTED THROUGH EARLY SUNDAY.  A TURN TOWARD THE NORTH AND NORTHWEST IS EXPECTED BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON.    

ON THE FORECAST TRACK, THE CENTER OF ETA WILL APPROACH THE CAYMAN ISLANDS LATER TODAY, BE NEAR CENTRAL CUBA TONIGHT AND SUNDAY, AND NEAR THE FLORIDA KEYS OR SOUTH FLORIDA SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY. 

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 35 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS.  ETA IS FORECAST TO BECOME A TROPICAL STORM AGAIN LATER TODAY, WITH FURTHER STRENGTHENING LIKELY THROUGH SUNDAY. 

TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BEGIN IN THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS ON SUNDAY AND COULD CONTINUE THROUGH MONDAY MORNING.  RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 5 TO 10 INCHES IS FORECAST FOR THE NORTHWEST AND PARTS OF THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS THROUGH THURSDAY. 

RESIDENTS IN THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS SHOULD BEGIN TO FINALIZE PREPARATIONS FOR TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS AND FLOODING IN LOW-LYING AREAS.  RESIDENTS IN THE REMAINDER OF THE BAHAMAS SHOULD CONTINUE TO CLOSELY MONITOR ALERTS ISSUED FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY ON ETA.
