JOB SUMMARY:
This is a professional position, performing evaluations, developing and implementing effective patient treatment plans to restore, compensate or adapt for loss of patient function, by planning and administering medically prescribed therapy treatments in accordance with professional standards governing the facility and their discipline. Collaborating with multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends and families; supervising assigned team members.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Administered occupational therapy procedures and modalities for the purpose of achieving program objectives.
2. Promote independence through direct therapy service for the purpose of developing clients’ daily living skills.
3. Evaluate clients’ conditions and needs.
4. Develop and implement treatment plan for clients, laying out the types of activities and specific goals to be accomplished.
5. Evaluate clients home or school, workplace and, based on the patient’s health needs, identify potential improvements.
6. Educate a client’s family and employer about how to accommodate and care for the patient.
7. Recommend adaptive equipment, such as wheelchairs and eating aids, and instruct patients on how to use that equipment.
8. Assess and record patients’ activities and progress for patient evaluations and make referral to the necessary healthcare providers.
9. Provide early intervention therapy to infants and toddlers who have, or are at risk of having developmental delays.
10. Working with clients on a one-to-one basis and group, to deliver therapy
11. Writing and maintaining confidential client case notes and reports, as well as information for clients, careers and other professionals.
12. Managing a caseload taking account of priority cases, waiting lists, successful outcomes, referrals and discharge of service users.
13. Working with others to provide the effectiveness of service delivery
14. Conducting personal development reviews with colleagues
15. Setting organizational and personal objectives
16. Planning and delivering training sessions
17. Contributing to the implementation and evaluation of projects and developments
18. Undertaking clinical audit through the collation or statistical, financial and other data relating to service delivery
19. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
20. Adhere to all public service codes, rules and regulations
21. Perform other related tasks which may be assigned by the job holder’s Head of Department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
· A Master’s Degree or higher in Occupational Therapy
· Registration as an Occupational Therapist from country of training or origin and possess maintain a current license.
Experience
· The position requires five (5) years’ experience proving therapeutic services.
SALARY: Grade 8.1 - $54,789.20 per annum plus allowances
