JOB TITLE: Radar Operator

DEPARTMENT: Marine Operations Centre- Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force

JOB SUMMARY:

Radar Operators safeguard our country and communities from the unlawful movement of illegal drugs, smuggled goods, and people, by providing 24hr updates of the maritime domain whether it's a security threat or providing life-saving humanitarian support, Radar Operators are the first line to respond. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Operating radar surveillance technology to interpret and analyze data in tracking suspected                marine vessels.

2. Monitors Marine radio attending to all calls made to Provo radar for action or assistance.

3. Generating leads, gathering evidence, and developing intelligence on potential criminal activity.

4. Working with criminal investigators on active investigations.

5. Performing queries utilizing data from various database systems to determine actions to take              against a suspect person or vessel

6. Reports suspect target to 911 and other required agencies

7. Identifies targets and makes the report

8. Prepares vessel tracking, interception, and Marine traffic service forms for record-keeping and            statistical records

9. Reports and logs all Radar technical matters

10. Communicates with the appropriate agency to analyze speed, heading, likely destination, and              other tracking information of selected radar targets

11. Assists with maintenance and technical jobs when the need arises

12. Compiles clear concise incident reports in written form and within a limited time frame.

13. Must be willing to work on a shift system

14. Adheres to the Public Service Codes, Rules, and Regulations, and Royal Turks and Caicos Islands          Police Force Code of Ethics.

15. Performs any other related tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Graduate and must have at least four (4) CXC passes or its equivalent. Passes in Mathematics and English are Mandatory. · Associate degree in a related field would be highly desirable, EXPERIENCE · A minimum of 2 years' experience in Maritime Operations & Border Security and communications roles involving Ship or Port operations and possibly Search and Rescue (SAR) or a similar role (desirable). · Must be Computer literate using Microsoft word, excel, outlook & Explorer · Must have a good excellent command of the English language – oral and written. SALARY: Grade 5.1 - $38,691.00 per annum ALLOWANCES: $8,400.00 per annum
