JOB SUMMARY:

The post holder responsibilities include the day to day supervision of direct labour and contracted maintenance works relating to airports, docks, marine and road works. Regular inspections of roads and other facilities to identify defects must be undertaken, and public utility and other activities in the road reserve must be closely supervised in accordance with laid down procedures.                               

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Implement and oversee the updating of the assets inventory and condition database
  2. Assist in preparation of Maintenance budgets and programmes
  3. Identify bulk materials requirements and budget and prepare procurement plans which ensure timely delivery.
  4. Prepare contract documentation and participate in tendering procedures and evaluation
  5. Oversee on a daily basis direct labour and contract works
  6. Implement procedures to control the activities of public
  7. Monitor the performance of contractors to ensure quality
  8. Adhere to all Public Service codes, rules and regulations
  9. Perform other related tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:  

  • Essential: a minimum of a Diploma in Civil Engineering or an appropriate equivalent academic qualification
  • Desirable: a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; Attendance on technical and maintenance courses will be an advantage

Experience:

  • A minimum of Eight (8) years experience in the Civil field.
  • At least three (3) years experience managing or overseeing a project from conception to completion.
  • Experience in managing a team
  • Experience in contract writing and contract management
  • Some experience in budgeting would be an asset

Compensation: 

SALARY – Grade 6.1 $45,992.00 per annum
