JOB SUMMARY:
The incumbent will be responsible for the enforcement of Public and Environmental Health regulations and sanitation standards concerned with the residential and work environment, food-handling and hygiene, solid and liquid waste management and port health.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures that water quality standards are maintained in both public and private supplies.
Supervises the management of pests of public health significance.
Collaborates with other health professionals in epidemiological investigation and control.
Ensures Occupational and Institutional hygiene and health.
Plans, develops and executes Environmental Health programmes.
Organizes and conducts training and health education programmes for schools and other groups.
Coordinates and manages public and environmental health matters in local disaster management initiatives.
Ensures that public and environmental health concerns are considered in all matters of building and physical development.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
An Associate Degree in Public and Environmental Health/related field or equivalent.
The position requires a minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in Public and Environmental Health Inspections.
SALARY: Grade 6.1 $35,794.15 per annum
For persons recruited outside of the Turks & Caicos Islands a two-year extendable contract is offered. Other benefits in addition to basic salary include a Housing Allowance, End-of contract gratuity of 6%, return passages for a family of up to two children under the age of 18 years, freight cost and duty exemption on personal effects imported within six months of the appointment.
