JOB SUMMARY:
This is a practical position, with basic level responsibility for ensuring that culturally diverse populations and underserved communities receive proper medical attention in the primary health care clinics and the community at large in collaboration with other Primary Health staff.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participates in preparing the plan of nursing care, for the individual, family and community.
Implements nursing actions for the selected clients as indicated in the nursing care plan and in the relation to the level of competence.
Assist in preliminary screening of clients
Assist the Nurse/Midwife with antenatal and child health immunization clinic sessions
Assist in performing health education activities on nutrition, family planning and promotion of sanitation and hygiene
Visit clients who have missed clinic appointments to ascertain reason and encourage attendance.
Participate in collection of patient data
Assist with the collection of specimen for testing of communicable disease
Assist in epidemiological surveillance and control of communicable disease
Adhere to all Public Service codes, rules and regulations
Perform other related tasks as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Qualifications:
A High School Diploma with at least three (3) CXC passes or equivalent
Successful completion of a six (6) weeks course designed for Community Health Aides by the Ministry of Health and Human Services.
Experience:
The position is an entry level position. Some experience working in a related field is desirable.
SALARY: Grade 4.1 $24,201.68 per annum
