JOB SUMMARY:

Primarily responsible for mentorship and development of Officers, and the executive management of the Regiment. The Post Holder is also responsible for maintaining discipline and standards of Officers of the rank of Captain and below and for Members of full-time Staff and Reserve Staff.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist the Commanding Officer in evaluating the Regiment’s depth or force structure to determine whether the Regiment’s size and composition, personnel and equipment are designed to effectively respond to the security threats facing the Turks and Caicos Islands
  2. Conduct yearly Climate Assessments and Inspections of the Regiment with a view to identify gaps and institute corrective measures for a highly efficient and capable Regiment
  3. To deputise for the Commanding Officer as required
  4. Direct and coordinate the work of all Permanent Staff and Reserves
  5. Maintaining a Performance Management System that establishes a culture of excellence, accountability and professional performance of employees
  6. Assist the Commanding Officer with the formulation of Policies, Doctrines, Standard Operating procedures and administrative directions
  7. Assist the Commanding Officer in delivering the Succession Plan for the Regiment
  8. Overseeing the creation and delivery of Unit Training Programmes, with a focus on medium to long term development
  9. Mentor and develop Senior and Low-level Officers in strategic thinking, leadership, management, and complex problem solving
  10. Plan, execute and conduct of all major deployments
  11. Chair the Unit Planning Committees: Works Progress Meetings, Health and Safety Meetings, Unit Information Systems, Technology and Security Meeting, and Unit Budget and Equipment Care Meetings
  12. Initiate appropriate Appraisal Reports, ensuring that all individuals receive career development counselling and opportunities
  13. Act as President of the Officers’ Mess Committee
  14. Manage all disciplinary matters, and assure the effectiveness of the disciplinary process
  15. Assess the effectiveness and delivery of training at a Unit level
  16. Adhere to all Public Service Codes, Governor’s Orders and TCI Regiment’s Standing Orders
  17. Perform other related tasks as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Qualifications: 

 

  • An Undergraduate Degree or equivalent from a recognized institution is preferred
  • Discernible depth of professional military training

Experience: Candidate must have:

  • Achieved a minimum rank of Major with a discernible background in the Armed Forces  and at least twenty (20) years military service
  • Experience in Supply Chain Management and Quartermaster Stores Management
  • Experience in Operational Planning and Execution
  • Experience in Crisis Management, Risk and Threat Assessment
  • Previous roles in Employee Performance Management, Training and Development, Coaching and Mentoring
  • A proven track record in delivering at pace, particularly in high-level outcomes which required a significant degree of engagement with stakeholders;
  • Collaborating and partnering with persons, including with external stakeholders with different objectives

SALARY: $53,965.72 Per Annum
