JOB SUMMARY:
This is a junior position with responsibility for the enforcement of the Physical Planning Ordinance and the regulations made thereunder throughout TCI. The job holder will assist in ensuring the enforcement of the Code, educate the public and liaise as required regarding amendments to the Planning and Building Regulations.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carries out mandatory site inspections on approved developments to ensure compliance with the planning applications and Building Code.
- Investigates any unauthorized development(s) and initiate enforcement procedures under the provisions of the Physical Planning Ordinance and Regulations made thereunder.
- Retrieves and compiles statistical data.
- To effect a simple and smooth process for consideration of planning applications for building permission.
- Keeps under review the TCI Building Code and Guidelines and report findings to the Development control Engineer and the Deputy Director of Planning.
- Performs such duties as are or may be conferred by PART VIII (Building Regulations) of the Physical Planning Ordinance, and Regulations made thereunder and such other duties that may be required by the Director or Deputy Director of Planning.
- Prepares and participates in planning and development control seminars
- Promotes orderly, structurally sound and high standard development of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
- Makes recommendations on any other matter as may be requested by the Director of Planning.
- Adheres to the Public Service codes, rules and regulations
- Performs other duties that may be required by the Director of Planning.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least an Associate Degree in Building Technology or Related Field
- Two (2) years relevant experience in a related field would be an asset
Compensation:
SALARY – Grade 6.1 $35,794.15 per annum
